This week, we’re highlighting another of our 2025 Holiday Heros: Bev Vaughn. Bev was nominated a few times and even nominated someone else herself. Here are what people had to say about Bev:

Bev chose to donate her $500 to Friends of the Pioneer Memorial Library with the library holding an event for the occasion! Below is what Bev had to say about her decision:
“I donated the $500 to the Friends of the Pioneer Memorial Library in Colby. I have been on the board since October 2023 and President since April 2025 along with 6 other members. We, along with the Director and Assistant Director, do the fundraising for the Memorial Library. One of the big things we do is have an annual Murder Mystery fundraiser held at the library and get community members to volunteer to be involved and enjoy a meal.
Currently, our sound system is over 20 years old and we will be replacing it this year, with the $500 going towards it. The Memorial Library also has a monthly speaker and has a free-will offering for the “Booked for Lunch” series. Another need that was fulfilled last year was adding 3 Private Hush Offices so patrons could meet in private. I feel it is important for everyone to use a library to read newspapers, magazines and check out books, videos, and even cake pans or bikes.
The Pioneer Memorial Library is a warm and friendly place for a person of every age to visit including those who want to learn English or Spanish! With all the programs at the library, there are plenty of opportunities for a person to volunteer as they could pick hours to help.
